🚀 Announcement: Data Retention Policy for Wakapi.dev

Happy New Year! 🎉 We hope you are doing well!

As 2023 has just started, we'd like to take the chance to announce a major upcoming change with Wakapi.dev. We are super proud of how fast Wakapi is growing and thankful for every user and contributor! 🙏

This growth, however, comes with a few challenges. As the number of users of our hosted service at Wakapi.dev keeps growing, it will eventually become infeasible to offer that service for free in the future. We will need more powerful hosting infrastructure and maintenance efforts are likely going to increase. For these reasons, we decided to cap the amount of coding activity stored for every user.

From Feb, 1st 2023 on, you will only be able to look back at 12 months of data by default.

If that's sufficient for you, you're good to go! If you want unlimited history, though, you now are given the option to go for a paid subscription for 4 € / month. For all users without an active subscription, data older than 12 months will be deleted, starting in February.

💬 Please note: This only applies to our hosted service at Wakapi.dev. You can still self-host your own instance without any restrictions. You can also easily export all your data from Wakapi.dev to your self-hosted instance.
